Wallace Henry "Hank" Joyce, a man of deep faith who lived life proudly off the beaten path, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in his hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was 76 years old.

Hank was born on October 9, 1949, to John Anthony "Jack" Joyce and Carmelita Reilly (Bucher) Joyce. Raised in Lancaster, he attended Sacred Heart School and later graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School. He went on to study literature and social work at Brescia University, where he received recognition for his writing and poetry and participated in college theater. A writer, poet, and lover of nature, Hank was also known for his compassion for others—especially the underdog—and for his fondness for corny dad jokes. He lived life on his own terms and was happiest connecting with people on the open road, sharing stories and bringing joy and laughter where he could.

From 1979 to 1981, Hank proudly served in the U.S. Navy's Chaplain Corps. In 1980, he married his former wife, Susan Schuler, and raised three children: Mary Sotomayor of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Jonathan Joyce of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who preceded him in death; and Carmelita Charles of the Dominican Republic.

For many years, Hank worked as a truck driver, dedicating himself to providing for his family through long hours on the road. He spent his retired years living in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, embracing what he loved most—traveling across the country, meeting people from all walks of life, and sharing his faith and love for Christ.

Hank will be dearly missed by his children, his siblings—John A. (Jeanine) Joyce of Greensboro, North Carolina; Jill Joyce of Boynton Beach, Florida; Thaddeus (Michelle) Joyce of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Joseph (Sheila) Joyce of Lancaster, Pennsylvania—and by his four beloved grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. Friends and family are invited to gather at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery. Donations may be made to Feed the Hungry (www.feedthehungry.org), a cause close to Hank's heart.

Hank will be remembered by his compassion, his humor, his independent spirit, and his deep love for God. When you think of him, say a little prayer and share a corny dad joke. Both would make him smile.
