Obituary

Victor Padilla, 73, of Lebanon, but previously resided in New York the majority of his life passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 at home.

Born in Las Marias, Puerto Rico on October 17, 1951, Victor was a son of the late Victor Padilla Journet and Irene (Martinez) Padilla.

Victor was a remarkable individual, known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering sense of justice. From his early days as a part-owner of a men's clothing store in the Bronx to his dedicated work as a construction contractor in the Bronx and Carmel/Brewster, NY, he approached life with determination and heart, even in the face of challenges such as his later illnesses and leg amputations.

He was deeply compassionate, always willing to help those in need and fiercely opposed to any form of injustice. His love for animals was evident in the way he cared for strays around his home, especially his beloved rescue dog, Lucy. His home was always lively with animals, from dogs and rabbits to turtles, finches, and fish, reflecting his nurturing spirit.

Victor's passions included old westerns, history documentaries, classic oldies, country, and salsa music. He had a knack for humor, delighting others with his dad jokes and playful antics, like barking to surprise those around him. A natural people person, he made friends everywhere he went, whether at the pool hall, diner, or simply in passing.

His life was defined by his generosity, resilience, and the joy he brought to others, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Victor is survived by his daughter, Elizebeth Padilla Rodriguez, wife of Ramon; three grandchildren, Destiny, Isaiah and Serena Rodriguez; sister, Norka I Depee; sister-in-law, Judith Padilla; ex wife, Maria Ortiz; step-son, Jonathan Roman; seven nieces, Doreen DeJesus, Noreen Buglione, Stephanie Padilla, Samantha Padilla, Stacey Caballerio, Jessica Figueroa, and Jailene Day; and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilfredo Padilla and Miguel Angel Padilla.
