Thomas M. Allwein, 66, of Washington DC died suddenly at home September 30, 2021. He was born on January 27, 1955 to Robert A. and Margaret (Peg) Allwein in Harrisburg PA. Tom was a 1973 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic where he lettered 4 years in wrestling, making it to the State finals in 1972 & 1973. He proudly served as the Viking at football games. He then graduated from Shippensburg State with a BS in accounting, later receiving an MS in Computer Science from George Mason University.

Tom spent his working life in civilian service to the US Government; departments of: US Army Military district of Washington, EPA, Departments of State, Treasury and Immigration and Naturalization Service On retirement in 2010 he consulted at the State Department.

On final retirement Tom became a certified personal trainer in Washington DC. He competed in several New York and Pikes Peak marathons and was a regular in the Marine Corp marathon for many years. When he no longer ran the Marine Corp. marathon he volunteered there.

His first act on retirement from the government was to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with his friend from the OGA. Tom enjoyed traveling to visit friends and relatives, running 5K's with his nieces and great-nephews and watching them in cross country, soccer and ice hockey.

Tom is survived by a brother Robert P. (Karen) Allwein of Bethlehem, a sister Helen Tiene (Rick) of Arlington, nephews Charlie and Jack Tiene, nieces Michele McCann and Lisa Diehl and their children: Reese, Mason and Reilly.

Memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 23rd at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 South 9th Street, Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
