Steven L. "Bear" Wentz, 67, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the companion of Joan M. Hartman for the last 49 years.

Born in Hanover, PA on April 30, 1956, Steven was the son of the late Melvin and Marie (Chapman) Wentz.

Steve graduated from South Western High School in 1974. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts Troop 115 in Hanover and worked for many years as a driver for DB Fisher. Steve enjoyed sprint car racing and will be fondly remembered as Hershey Bears "sign man" back in the late 70's and early 80's. Most of all, though, Steve loved to make people laugh and will forever be remembered as the jolly and kind hearted man he always was.

In addition to his companion, Steven is survived by his brother, Dennis Wentz; three sisters-in-law - Patricia Shaffer and her husband, Butch, Phyllis Weddle, and Mary Wentz; nieces and nephews - Connie Wentz, Jennifer Reed and her husband, Daniel, Kyle Kissinger, Melanie Weddle and her husband, Liam, Casey Weddle, and Andrew Weddle and his wife, Becky; grand niece, Alexis; two nephews - DJ and Cameron; and great grand niece, Kaylee.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Dave Wentz; a niece, Kristen Shaner; a brother-in- law, Eddie Weddle; his mother-in-law, Mary R. Hartman, and father-in-law, Philip Hartman.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:30AM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, followed by a service at 11:00 AM at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 South 9th Street, Lebanon, PA 17042. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve's name may be made to York County Racing Club, 568 Yale Street, York, PA 17403.
