Obituary

Rosemary S. Smith-Leiss, 84, of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. She and her husband, Frederick A. "Fritz" Leiss, celebrated 27 years of marriage this past December.

Rosemary was born on April 17, 1938 in Lebanon to Joseph and Eva (Klein) Strangarity and was a graduate of Lebanon High School's Class of 1956. Rosemary was a faithful and active member of St. Cecilia's Church, where she dedicated countless hours helping with various fundraising events and serving as a Eucharistic minister, a role that she was very proud to have been one of the first women to fill. Before retiring, Rosemary worked as a cafeteria manager for the Lebanon School District for more than 25 years. She was rarely without a book in her hand, enjoyed traveling, and loved her family with her whole heart.

In addition to her husband, Rosemary is survived by two children - Mark Smith and his wife Jill, and Karen Hunt and her husband David; two granddaughters - Taylor Smith and her husband, Jay, and Madison Smith; a grandson, Jonathan Hunt; two sisters - Joanne Witter and her husband Terry, and Josephine Gress and her husband, Charles; three step daughters - Karen Gooodman and her husband Dennis, Carol Nye, and Linda Pavone and her husband Andrew; two stepsons - Daniel Leiss and his wife Dorian, and Frederick Leiss and his wife Margi; eleven step grandchildren; eighteen step great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Neil W. Smith; three brothers - Joseph, Anthony, and George Strangarity, and her twin sister, MaryAnn Strangarity.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, May 7th from 10-11am at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, 120 East Lehman Street in Lebanon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery will be held privately.
