Robert J. "Bob" Horney, 77, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Joan C. (Clarke) Horney with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Born in Lebanon, PA on March 4, 1947, Robert was a son of the late Anthony and Julia (Abramczyk) Horney. He graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School, Class of 1965.  He was a Vietnam War Veteran having served in the U. S. Air Force and worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years. He was a member of the Church of St. Cecilia and the Holy Name Society.  He volunteered his time for many years at various church functions:  summer festivals, bingo games, fasnacht sales, spaghetti and fish dinners.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, professional and college sports, and maintained an extensive model railroad collection.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two children, Robert J. Horney, Jr., husband of Kelly-jean, and Kara A. Horney; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Madeline, Isaiah Horney, and Brandon Feeman; a brother, Edward Horney, husband of Alice; a sister, Julie Heisler, wife of Raymond; brother-in-law, Dennis Good, sister-in-law Mary Lou Horney, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony Jr., Joseph, and Stanley Horney and a sister, Mary Ann Good.

The family wishes to express its appreciation for the excellent care and attention provided by the Lebanon VA Medical Center during the past few years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Friday, September 6, 2024 at St. Cecilia's Church, 120 E Lehman St, Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment with full military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to Mass from 11:30-12:30 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made to Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N Ramona Rd, Myerstown, PA 17067. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
