Robert J. DeGroat, 74, of Mertztown, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at home. He was the husband of Josephine T. (Corella) DeGroat.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on March 25, 1949, Robert was the son of the late William and Margaret (Peters) DeGroat.

Robert was a simple man who never asked for much. He loved sports, enjoyed playing golf and was the New York Giants and New York Yankees biggest fan. Robert was very proud to have served in The United States Marine Corps.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two children - Robert J.W. DeGroat and Nicole R. Horne; three grandchildren - Samual, Cooper, and Rocco; three step-sons - Steven Rismiller, Christopher Rismiller, and Mathew Rissmiller; three step-grandsons; two step great granddaughters; four siblings - William DeGroat, Jacqueline Lawrence, Robert Zimmerman, and Anastasia Fick; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Fick) DeGroat; and two sisters, Carol Simone and Helen Rhoads.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S Lincoln Ave, Lebanon, PA 17042. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.
