Obituary

Richard (Dick) Schirato, D. Ed., age 86, passed away on Monday July 28, 2025. Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Faye Schirato. Richard is survived by his three children: Jay, husband of Sherry Schirato, of Hummelstown, PA; Kelly, wife of Scott Ebersole, of Newark, OH; and Becky, wife of John Todd, of Collierville, TN. He is survived by nine grandchildren: Megan, wife of David Kozak; Rachael, fiancé of Tristan Abraham; Ryan Schirato; Samantha, wife of Joey Gladhill; Brandon  Caudill; fiancé of Kirsten Harmon; Sarah, wife of Jared Cordial; Olivia Ebersole, fiancé of Griffin Hoepker; and Serena and Cecelia Todd. Also surviving are 4 great-grandchildren: Brantley Gladhill; Jenson and Jude Cordial; and Elizabeth Kozak.

Richard was born in Lebanon, PA the son of the late John J. and Ernestina Schirato. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Anthony Schirato, Betty Schirato Binner, John G. Schirato and Steven Schirato.

Richard was a 1956 graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School and a 1965 graduate of Elizabethtown College. He received his master's degree in education from Temple University in 1967 and his doctorate of education from Temple University in 1972. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for 30 years and retired in 2000. Richard resided at Messiah Lifeways since 2022 and the family appreciates the care he received while there.
