Orpha J.
Meashey
May 6, 1931 — Sep 17, 2024
On the afternoon of September 17th, 2024, Orpha Jean Meashey passed away quietly at the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. She was 93 years old.
Orpha was born on May 6th 1931 in her life-long family home on East Lehman Street. Her parents were T. Robert Bomberger and Katye Bomberger (né Rittle). Her elder sister by 13 years, Arline (Bomberger) Hoffer, often helped to raise her as they grew up.
In July of 1953, she married Harold Meashey. They had 3 children together, eldest son Robert "Bob" Meashey, daughter Kelly Meashey, and youngest son Steven Meashey. Sadly, she was widowed in August of 1984 when Harold passed suddenly and unexpectedly, but in the 40 years to come she would continue to lead an active and love-filled life. She learned to drive at the age of 53 and worked for the Lebanon County Clerk of Courts, later as a visiting nurse, and then as a medical transcriptionist. In retirement, she found joy working at the Cornwall Children's Center and continued working there for almost 30 years until March of this year. She adored golden retrievers, meeting with her "Breakfast Club" friends almost every morning, and was an avid reader of thriller novels.
Orpha is survived by her children, Bob and Claire (Garth) Meashey, Kelly Meashey and Steve Heitzer, Steve and Erin Meashey, as well as her grandchildren, Katye Meashey, David Meashey, Samantha (Meashey) and David Dundore, Chester and Jorgi Meashey, Sam Heitzer and Carrie Chalfant, Robyn (Meashey) Kelly, her great-grandchild, Sophie Meashey, and her niece, Rev. Julie Vance.
The details for her Celebration of Life service can be found below. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made instead to any of these 3 organizations: Cornwall Children's Center in Lebanon, the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue in Reinholds, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S 9th St, Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will be at Kimmerling's Cemetery. Please share your memories with the family at our online guest book at
