FAMILY MANDATES EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK TO ENTER

On Friday, July 16th, 2021, Michael A. Magazino passed peacefully at the age of 78, surrounded by friends and family. Michael was born on May 3, 1943, the third child of the late Elizabeth (Ill) and James Magazino.

He served in the United States Air Force and, while stationed in upstate New York, met his future wife in a nightclub, slow dancing his way right into her heart. (Fittingly, Michael's final, though unrealized, wish was to be able to take his wife dancing one last time.) After his discharge from the Air Force, he earned a graduate degree and worked in several capacities through the years, though always in careers that highlighted his training as a licensed psychologist. Michael was married to Susan for just shy of 56 years and likely spent the majority of it yelling "SUZ!" from one recliner or another. A big guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart, he would often secretly and spontaneously give to others, whether because they reminded him of his mother or because they seemed like they needed a helping hand. If you lived near Michael any time from the mid-1960s until the late 1990s, you likely waved to him on one of his daily 5 mile jogs. He loved Lake Placid, cheese curls, books, Murder She Wrote, Peeps, autumn, a glass of good whiskey, and spying out of his kitchen window Gladys Kravitz-style. He was an excellent marksman, gifted with words, and an absolute beast of a man who once lifted a car off of an elderly neighbor following one of his aforementioned 5 mile runs. Lifetime stats include eating twice his body weight in Zweier's tuna salad and buying a dozen trees worth of newspapers and lottery tickets from Turkey Hill. Nothing jazzed him up like haggling or getting free things, a Magazino family tradition and one of his true talents. A beautiful contradiction, Michael was supremely confident but utterly respectful, he appreciated life's luxuries but never carried a chip on his shoulder about his own modest upbringing. He was hot tempered but quick to forgive and ask for forgiveness, and though he looked like a meathead he was tremendously intelligent. He also had the unique ability to make anyone he met feel special in just the way they needed to feel it, and if you knew Michael then you know this to be true.

Michael will be lovingly remembered by: his wife, Susan (Levine) and their daughters, Stefani and Alexis; his granddaughter, Allegra Waltman, and his great-granddaughter Kyah; his brother, James; his sisters Margaret Kumiega, Mary Bowman, and Bernadette Rush; a gaggle of cousins, nieces and nephews; and William Billett, who he held in his heart like a son. Michael was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his brothers Francis and Anthony. If you are mourning the Michael-sized hole in the world, his family invites you to join them for a memorial service at Thompson's Funeral Home in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, August 7th , 2021, at 10 o'clock in the morning. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Michael by secretly and spontaneously giving to someone who looks like they need it or by extending a bit of yourself, emotionally or verbally, to someone who appears to be struggling ... or by slow dancing with someone you love.

There will be a visitation from 10-11am on Saturday, August 7th at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 South 9th Street in Lebanon with a funeral service starting at 11:00am.
