Maxine Anne Henderson Gerrity, of Lebanon, died September 21, 2024 at the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital following a long battle with COPD.
Born August 14, 1953, in Chicago, IL, she was the youngest daughter of Mac and Phyllis Henderson. As a child, she lived in Morocco, Germany, Mississippi, and Maryland while her father served in the United States Air Force. She is a 1971 graduate of Lebanon High School.
Maxine worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the Lebanon County District Attorney's Office, retiring in 2012. She loved creating handmade cards; coloring; listening to music; eating well done burgers with lots of ketchup; watching crime shows; and the birds, wildlife, and plants in her yard.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael, her daughter Maggie, of Middletown, and her grandcat Tuna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older sisters, Bernadine Huston and Mary Kay Currin, and her beloved cats Simba, Leon, and Logan.
A visitation will be be held on Tuesday, October 1st from 10:30 to 11:30am at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 South 9th Street, Lebanon. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, her family encourages donations in her memory to the Dr. Omid Ansary Student Emergency Assistance Fund at Penn State Harrisburg ( https://harrisburg.psu.edu/philanthropy/emergency-assistance-fund) .
