Matthew B. Day, born on January 10, 1971 in Lebanon, passed away on September 10, 2022.

He was son of Mary B. (Leone) Day and the late James J. Day. Matthew graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1989, joined the United States Marine Corps and traveled to Kuwait to serve in Desert Storm. He earned a bachelor's degree from Fordham University in New York City and an MBA at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. He also studied abroad in Greece and Italy. He spent many years working in the travel and tourism industry in Chicago, St. Louis and New York City. This provided an opportunity for Matthew to travel the world, including trips to many cities in the U.S. and Canada and multiple countries in Europe and Asia. He had several business ventures, including owning a beach shop in Thailand, starting a double-decker bus tourism company in NYC, investing in high-speed boat tours at the Statue of Liberty and selling helicopter tours in NYC. Most recently, Matthew was the Director of Operations for Contract Leasing Corporation. In addition to traveling, Matthew enjoyed spending time with his family, sports, especially football, photography, and cuisines of all types. His visits to Lebanon always included stops to his favorite dining establishments. Matthew had special relationships with his steadfast canines, especially Cocoa and Papa, who left this earth in 2021.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Carmen Canas; stepson, Will Polo; mother, Mary B. Day; sister, Maureen, wife of John Faiola; brother, James M. Day, husband to Heather; sister, Danielle, wife of John Biever; aunt, Rose Marie Day; uncle, Louis Leone; and aunt, Jeanine Brown. He also had numerous nieces and nephews with whom he enjoyed joking. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, James J. Day; sister, Sheri A. Day; and brother, Joseph F. Day.

Matthew's life will be honored in a service at Fort Indiantown Gap on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 10:30 am.
