Obituary

Mary Kathryn Uhler Starry went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2023 in the comfort of her home.  Mary was born in Lebanon on October 12, 1927 to the late Walter H. Uhler, Sr. and Mabel Short Hostetter Uhler.

Mary graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945 and Women's Medical College of PA in Philadelphia in 1948 as a Registered Nurse.  Throughout her career she worked at the Lebanon Sanitorium which later became the Lebanon Valley General Hospital, the Good Samaritan Hospital and the Veteran's Administration Hospital from which she retired.  She returned to work part time at Cedar Haven several years after her retirement from the VA before retiring completely.

Mary had been involved, although not recently, with the Lebanon Council on the Arts and the Lebanon Flower Club.  Her hobbies included making jewelry, taking art classes, reading books and working with plants and flowers.

She is survived by her children Vanessa Whitman, Rosalynd DiNicola wife of Romildo with whom she resided, Corneil Starry husband of Marina Pastore all of Lebanon and Shelby Kenna companion of Carl Beck of Reading.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Walter Hostetter.

She was preceded in death by her first-born daughter Audrey Ann Tripp, and 6 brothers, Earl Hostetter, Victor, Walter H. Jr., James, Robert and Delmas Uhler.

The family would like to thank Pastor Ruthann Seibert of Grace United Church of Christ in Lebanon for her visits and administering communion and all who sent the many cards she received during her illness and for her 96th  birthday. We would also like to thank the staff of Compassus for making our mother's final days comfortable.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 1st at Grace United Church of Christ, 1000 South 5th Avenue, Lebanon, PA. Interment will take place privately at Kimmerlings Cemetery.
