Obituary

Mary Emma (Hoke) Miller, 91, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Lebanon Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Van S. Miller, II.

Born in Lebanon, PA on September 28, 1933, Mary was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Spangler) Hoke. Mary was a graduate of Lebanon High School. She started her career as a legal secretary and later worked for Boscov's for numerous years. Prior to her retirement she also worked as a hostess for Schwalm's Restaurant in Cleona. Mary loved spending time with family. She enjoyed cookbooks, flowers, puzzle books and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was very knowledgeable and especially loved playing trivia games and watching Jeopardy.

Mary is survived by three children, Patty Shepps, wife of Bruce, Donna A. Frankfort, wife of Michael, and Dawn Stone, wife of Frank; two sons-in-law, Jay Brown and Mark Doeing; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Wright and Helen Ruhl, and a brother, Robert Hoke.

She was preceded in death by three children, Vanessa Brown, Van S. Miller III, and Valerie Doeing; grandson, Andrew Doeing; great granddaughter, Danica Layser; two brothers, Harry Hoke and Joseph Hoke; and three sisters, Elizabeth Blouch, Joan Hoke, and Barbara Resh.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at St. Mary's Church, 2 N 8th St, Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to St. Mary's Church at the above address.
