Mary Ellen Hockley, 91, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in her home. She was the wife of the late Thomas E. Hockley, to whom she was married for 62 years.

Born in Lebanon, PA on October 10, 1931, Mary Ellen was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Rimpf) Koch. Mary Ellen is survived by three children, Patrice M. Sadler, wife of Archie, Robert J. Hockley, companion of Sherry, and David M. Hockley, husband of Alissa; her daughter-in-law, Helen; five grandchildren, Brett, Erica, Nicholas, Eric, and Lauren; a great granddaughter, Brynn; two brothers, Robert and James Koch; two sisters, Ceal Schlegel and Carole Shay; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas F. Hockley; a brother, Frank Koch Jr.; and three sisters, Catherine Louise Koch, Rita Myers, and Kathleen Pisco.

Mary Ellen was a 1949 graduate of Lebanon High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Maennerchor Club. She was employed by The Department Of Transportation in Harrisburg until she had her first child. In later life she enjoyed working at the voting polls in the Lebanon Tenth Ward District. She was elected to the office of Majority Inspector of Election in 2009. She held that position for a four year term before retiring in 2013. She was a member of Northeast Swim Club and spent almost every day there during the summer months. Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, crocheting, and baking. She especially loved making her walnut nut rolls. She loved football and was a devoted Notre Dame fan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. Mary's Church, 2 North 8th Street, Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to Mass from 10-11 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Ellen's name may be made to St. Mary's church at the above address.
