Marianne Weirich, 87, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024 at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of the late John F. (Jack) Weirich.

Born in Lebanon, PA on June 7, 1936, Marianne was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Romanak) Payne. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church.

Marianne is survived by three children: Steven Weirich (Peggy) of Barnegat Light, NJ, Jolynne Mayo (Ray) of Media, PA and Jennifer Newmaster (John) of Lebanon, PA, eight grandchildren; Matthew Newmaster (Mandy), Megan Polvino (Jesse), Alexander Weirich (Nicole), Christopher Weirich, Alyssa Horn (Mike), Jordan Mayo (Tina), Lexi Strippy (Jimbo) and Olivia Mayo as well as eleven great grandchildren; Abby, Brayden, Luca, Heidi, Nora, Cecilia, Carson, Cooper, Lilah, Lincoln and Asher. She is also survived by a brother, John Payne, and a sister, Sandra Meluskey. She was preceded in death by a grandchild; Ryan Mayo, a great grandchild, JJ Strippy, and a sister, Diane Payne.

Marianne graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1954 and from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Lancaster in 1957. She was a career nurse, working in labor and delivery at Good Samaritan Hospital and psychiatry at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.  She later earned a BSN degree at Millersville University and worked as a public health nurse for the State of Pennsylvania.

A lifelong Lebanon resident, she enjoyed nothing more than family gatherings at her house for picnics, pool parties and holiday events. The grandkids called her "Nan" and the great grandkids called her "Gigi" and they were all "perfect" to her. ​

Marianne was a good friend and a person of great faith.  She kept in touch with her friends from nursing school and met often for luncheons to stay in touch.  She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul's Church as well as the Legion of Mary.  She said the rosary daily and believed in the healing power of prayer.

Marianne enjoyed traveling and took bucket list vacations to the Grand Canyon, Italy, the Czech Republic and Ireland. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, meals and conversation with her cousins as well as traveling to NASCAR and Indy Car races with her husband and family.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2024, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Paul's the Apostle Church, 125 S Spruce St, Annville, PA 17003. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marianne's name may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church at the above address.
