Luis Tirado Morales, 85, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2022. He was the loving husband of Joan M. Morales for 63 years until her passing in 2021. Born on 06/20/1936 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Georgino Tirado-Lugo and Mariana Morales-Figueroa. Luis moved to the United States in 1954, and eventually settled in Lebanon, PA where he lived the remainder of his life.

Luis met the love of his life, Joan Morales, in 1956. They were married on 06/23/1957 and together they raised five children: Louis Morales, Tina Lanciault (Dan), Jody Morales, Joseph Morales, and Melissa Morales (Page).

Throughout his life, Luis had a passion for learning new things. In the early 1960's he taught himself how to do upholstery work from an advertisement he saw in a mail-order catalog. This turned into a lifelong hobby that would span over 50 years. He was excellent at his craft and eventually became the proud owner of Luis Upholstery Shop, a business he started on his own and operated for many years.

Luis worked full time at Alcoa in Lebanon, PA for 20+ years before retiring at the age of 60. After his retirement he became interested in woodworking and taught himself how to build furniture. He built a variety of chairs, beds, coffee tables and couches from scratch. Throughout his life, Luis never stopped learning. Most recently, he learned how to surf the internet and use YouTube videos to learn new upholstering techniques.

Luis was kind hearted, soft spoken, and a hard worker who loved music, going to concerts and bus trips across the country with his dear wife and traveling companion, Joan. He never forgot where he came from and visited his precious sisters and relatives in Puerto Rico many times over the years. The ocean and beach were near and dear to his heart and he cherished his vacations to Ocean City, MD and Rehoboth Beach, DE. Feeding and watching the birds in his backyard was also a favorite pastime.

Affectionately known as 'Pop,' 'Paw-Paw' and 'Grandpa,' Luis was a gentle soul who, above all else, loved his wife and family dearly. He especially enjoyed family gatherings where he always sat back quietly, with a grin on his face, and took it all in.

A man of few words, his kindness and quiet strength spoke louder than words. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known him and he will be forever in our hearts.

Luis is survived by his children as well as brothers Miguel A. Tirado and Carmelo Tirado-Morales, sisters Evangelia Tirado-Morales, Paulina Tirado-Morales, four grandchildren, Paul, Linus, Alec, and Kody, four great grandchildren, Alana, Lexie, Grace, and Luke, one great, great grandchild, Hadlee and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Felicita Tirado-Morales, Maria Emilia-Morales, and brother Justo Tirado-Morales.​

The family has entrusted Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 South 9th Street Lebanon, PA 17042, with the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 9th, 2022 from 11:30am-12:30pm and a funeral service at 12:30pm-1:30pm at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Grand View Cemetery.
