Loren passed away Jan. 23, 2022 peacefully in his sleep at his home in Londonderry Village, Palmyra, Pennsylvania. He was born Aug. 17, 1931 in Holmesville, Nebraska on a dairy farm where he was raised. He was born to David Frantz and Anna Brubaker Frantz. Anna passed away when he was three years old. Bertha Albin Frantz became his stepmother. Loren attended McPherson College in Kansas, majoring in Sociology. He attended Bethany Seminary in Chicago, IL where he met his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Barkdoll Frantz.

Loren served as minister for churches in Union Town, Kansas, Trout Creek and Muskegon, Michigan and Homeworth and Limaville, Ohio. Then he worked until retirement as a life insurance agent for National Life and Accident Insurance Company in Alliance, Ohio and later American General Insurance in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where the family moved in 1969. All three children, Ronald, Pat, and Myrna graduated from Central Dauphin High School. The family attended Ridgeway Community Church of the Brethren, where Loren sang in the choir and volunteered with maintenance. After retirement, Loren worked on many church fundraising campaigns with Kirby Smith, Inc., volunteered for Brethren Housing in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and served in many work camps with Brethren Disaster Ministy, rebuilding communities after natural disasters.

Loren loved to travel and to visit his family in the Midwest. He and Evelyn also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Western Europe, camped in most of the states in the U.S, and closer to home at Camp Swatara. Loren never lost his love and concern for all he met, and cared about peace and social justice.

Preceding him in death are his parents, David and Anna Frantz, Bertha Frantz, brothers Ivan, Milton and Elvin Frantz, sisters Hazel Turner and Lois Wine, and wife Evelyn Frantz. He is survived by children Ronald Frantz (Nina Frantz), Pat Horoschak (John Horoschak), and Myrna Frantz (Jeff Overton). Loren and Evelyn came to know and enjoy eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Grandchildren are Tikva Chofi (Claude Chofi), Hilda Casey (Kevin Casey), Kessa Frantz (Corey Frantz), Amanda Houseal, (Greg Houseal), Amy Hoover (Mark Hoover), Jamey Overton, (Jodie Overton), Jordon Overton (Rachelle Overton) and Jon Overton. Great grandchildren are Hope, Rachel and Gabriel Chofi, Logan Frantz, Emily, Lucas and Olivia Houseal, Jackson and Abby Hoover, Faith Fleder, Veda and Violet Overton.​

Former Pastor of Ridgeway Church, Judith Gibble, characterized Loren well when she said, "He was so faithful and constant in his support of the church and its missions as well as a devoted family man. And always with a smile."

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Ridgeway Community Church, 525 North Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17109.
