Joseph P. Lavia, 87, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Ella M. (Malley) Lavia, to whom he was married for 62 years. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 4, 1936, Joseph was a son of the late Frank and Rose (Cherry) Lavia.

He was a member of the Church of St. Cecilia and a proud United States Army veteran. After working as an automotive manager most of his life for Firestone and JCPenney, Joe spent nearly 10 years of his retirement working in the pro shop at Fairview Golf Course in Lebanon. He enjoyed golfing, was never without a friendly smile, and was, by far, the Pittsburgh Steelers biggest fan.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by three children - Kathleen Hurst and her husband, Brian, Joseph Lavia and his fiancée, Faith Williams, Rebecca Stoffer and her husband, Eric; four grandchildren - David Hurst, Kevin Hurst, Megan Groff, and Samantha Stoffer; six great grandchildren; two sisters - Marilyn Celio and her husband, Richard and Margaret Levandowsky and her husband, John; and several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Marie Wikert and brother, Frank Lavia, Jr.

A viewing will be held from 11:30am-1:00pm on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 South 9th Street, Lebanon. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm.
