John J. Pete, II,  62, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 peacefully at Harrisburg Hospital after a long illness. He currently resided in West Hazleton.

John was born in Lebanon to the late John J. Pete, Sr. and the late Joyce L. (Donten) Pete on August 27, 1961. He was preceded in death by his partner, Catherine "Kitty" M. Ortiz on April 1, 2006.

John graduated from Cedar Crest High School in 1979 and was on the football team. He attended Lock Haven University in PA and then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force as a communications and computer control specialist. He was stationed in Colorado and Italy. He loved hanging out most with family and friends. He was a huge Notre Dame, Eagles, and Phillies fan.

John is survived by two children, John J. "JJ" Pete III, and Jamie Pete partner of Cody Dugan, both of West Hazleton; five siblings: Elissa of Annville, Christopher, husband of Debbie of Effort, Alexander, husband of Sue of Harrisburg, Jennifer, wife of Michael Desrochers of Wyoming, and Dominic, husband of Karen of Conyngham; three grandchildren, Shannon Jr., Charlie, and Aiden; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
