Obituary

John (Jack) E. Eck, Sr., 94, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Middletown Home. John joined his wife, Catherine (Leiss) Eck, who passed away on May 25, 2012.

Born in Lebanon on December 25, 1927, John was the son of the late Menno and Beulah (Feary) Eck. He was the last surviving member of his 6 siblings.

John was retired from the Reading Foundry and Supply Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he had served as an usher for 50 years. He was a member of the YMCA and he enjoyed traveling extensively with his family and friends. He also was a founding and lifetime member of the 5th Ward Athletic Club and had served as a member of their board.

John interrupted his education to serve on the Battle Ship U.S.S. Mississippi in the Navy during World War II. He returned to Lebanon Catholic High School and graduated in 1947.

John is survived by his four children - John, Jr., husband of Marcella; Catherine, wife of Bentura Rodriguez; Michael, husband of Stephanie; and David, husband of Beverly; as well as seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

As quick with a joke as he was with a shoulder to cry on, he will be missed but not forgotten.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2 North 8th St., Lebanon, PA 17046. A visitation will be held prior to Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jack's name to St. Mary's Catholic Church as the above address. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements. Please share your memories with the family at our online guest book at thompsonfuneralhomelebanon.com
