Obituary

John R. Charbonnel, 78, of Lebanon, formerly of Paramus, NJ, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Margaret A. (Kern) Charbonnel for 45 years. John was born in New York, New York on October 28, 1946. He was a son of the late Roland and Eugenie (Guizerix) Charbonnel.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Eric, daughter, Andrea (Eugene) Raggi, two beautiful grandchildren Antonio and Colette with another grandchild on the way.  He was a beloved brother and uncle and is survived by his sisters Elaine (Robert) Malpezzi and Iris (Frank) Doyle, his brother Paul (Nancy) Charbonnel and many nieces and nephews.

John served in the Army for two years and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war.  He spent most of his career as a commodities manager at Lehman Brothers.  John will be remembered as a loving and patient husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He was always generous, thoughtful, and put others before himself.  John enjoyed gardening, fixing things around the house, playing cards, chess, collecting stamps and coins, and trips to the beach with his family.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 12:30 pm at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. 2596 Cornwall Rd. Cornwall, Pa 17016. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing hours will be held Wednesday September 24, 2025 5:00-7:00 pm at the Thompson's Funeral Home 126 S. 9th St. Lebanon, Pa 17042 and Thursday September 25, 2025 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church prior to mass 11:30am-12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the food pantry or midnight run at St. Mary's Church. Checks can be made out to St. Mary's with either food pantry or midnight run in the memo and mailed to St Mary's Church, 1836 E.
