Jean Marie (Sherlock) Blim was born on August 1, 1928, to Joseph Sherlock and Helen Cecelia Podgorski (Hilson) in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Jean had a sister named Lila who was 18 months older. In the late 1930's the Sherlocks moved to Utica, New York. From her childhood, Jean was an avid animal lover who was known to coax stray animals home with her so that she could care for them. Jean graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1946 and thanks to her life-long best friend, Dolores Vanderburgh, who we all know as Skirmie, began working as a secretary at Alling and Cory. At the age of 18, in 1946, Jean met the love of her life, Carl Blim, Jr.  In 1950 they were married at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Utica, NY and moved immediately following the wedding to Pittsburg. PA, where Carl had taken a job with US Steel. Jean and Carl were married for 64 years when Carl passed away in 2015. In 1955, Jean and Carl had a baby girl named Karen Jean-Marie and in 1959, another daughter named Pamela Anne. Jean was involved in the Catholic Church and made sure that her daughters took extra-curricular dance and music classes. In 1968 the family moved to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island where Jean was a member of the American Women's Club and the Lucayan Country Club.  Jean learned how to play golf and enjoyed the sport for years.  In 1975, Carl and Jean moved to Nassau, New Providence and enjoyed enduring friendships as their daughters attended high school and college in Florida and Alabama. Jean and Carl returned to the United States in 1987 and lived and worked in Sewickley, Pa before settling in New York City in 1989. Jean worked for JP Morgan Chase on the executive level as an Assistant to the CFO until she retired.  Jean and Carl had two Siamese cats named Koko and Cerina who lived for 22 and 23 years. Everyone knew the cats were a major part of the family.  Jean and Carl spent the last 30 years of Carl's life in Battery Park City, New York where they simply loved to be. Living only a few blocks from the World Trade Center, Jean was a first-hand witness to the tragic events of 9/11.  Jean spent time with her best friend Jennie, Carl's favorite secretary, Bernie, and dear friends Bill and Cindy. Over a decade ago, during Mass at St. Peter's Church, Jean and Carl met Mike Masterson, who through the years they adored like the son they never had. Jean lived in New York City until she moved to Pennsylvania to be with her daughter Pamela in 2021. Jean is survived by her grand dog Rocky, which with she had a supernatural connection, and her two daughters, Pamela Hall and Karen Joines, Jean's grandsons, Steven Lankford and Eric Lankford, Eric's wife Samia and Jean's great grandson, Rowan.

Jean spent the last three years of her life surrounded by amazing women who cared for her every need. Her daughter, Pamela, Mary Satchwell, Marie Shott, Joanne Vendetti, Sandy Hansell, Delaney Camasta, Jane Rossi and Jean's dear friend, Renuka Narahari. Jean received tender care from her hospice nurse, Molly and the staff at Celebration Villa. Jean also made endearing friendships with the residents, especially Louis and her wonderful neighbor, Gene.

Jean's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Cornwall, PA at 11:30 on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 and her burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Utica New York at a later date to follow this Spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers donations in Jean's name may be made to St. Peter's Church, 22 Barclay Street, New York, NY 10007. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
