James "Jim"  W. Shirk, 88, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Virginia L. (Arnick) Shirk, to whom he was married for 56 1/2 years.

Born in Lebanon, PA on September 25, 1935, James was a son of the late Walter and Edna (Gassert) Shirk. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and retired from the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was a proud Navy veteran, an outdoor enthusiast and an avid Phillies and Penn State fan.

Jim is survived by five children: Chris J. Shirk, Gary E. Shirk, Linda L. Hren, wife of Terry, Scott D. Shirk, husband of Melissa, and Brian M. Shirk; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

The family would like extend thanks to the staff of the Lebanon VA Medical Center for all their care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 723 Lehman St, Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment with full military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in James' name can be made to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Memorial Council, Inc., P.O. Box 58, Annville, PA 17003.
