Gary "Skip" Zentz, 89, of Mt. Gretna, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born in Ridgway, PA on August 23, 1932, Gary was the son of the late William Zentz and Eva (Winslow) Vasbinder.

After marrying his late wife, Dorothy (Lilly) Zentz, on August 8, 1953, Skip served as a corporal in the army from 1953 to 1955. Following his service, Gary and Dottie bought the Mt. Gretna Hide-A-Way which they owned and operated for 23 years while raising their family in the upstairs living quarters. After selling the Hide-A-Way, Gary worked alongside his son, Tom, at Zentz Industrial.

Following his retirement, Skip enjoyed puttering around his yard and working on his pond. The koi and geese knew the sound of Gary's voice and would come to the edge of the pond for their treats as soon as they heard him. Gary loved the Mt. Gretna community and would often spend hours chatting with neighbors and keeping up with all the local news. If he wasn't at home, you could usually find him spending time in his daughter's art studio next door. In recent years, you wouldn't see Skip without his beloved German Shepherd, Lucky, by his side.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Zentz. Gary is survived by his children, Gary Zentz, Thomas Zentz, Patricia Reichenbach, and Michael Zentz; his grandchildren, Valarie Weaber, Megan Schickling, Amy Zentz, Sable Cheresini, Tiffany Speraw, and Gregory Zentz; and his great grandchildren, Christian and Landen Weaber, Alexander and Gabrielle Schickling, Owyn Grenier, Bella, Eric, Sophia, and Beau Cheresini, Alexander Speraw, and Gracelynn and William Zentz.

A service will be held at Ft. Indiantown Gap at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 26, 2022, with a procession gathering at 9:30 AM at Thompson Funeral Home, 126 S. 9th Street, Lebanon and leaving at 9:45 AM.
