Ethney A. "Tony" Louwerse, 81, of Cornwall and formerly of Scranton, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in Sinking Springs, PA. He was the loving husband of Mary E. Preno, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Concord, New Hampshire on October 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Albert A. and Carmella (Thomas) Louwerse.
Tony worked as an inspector for the Cornwall Water Authority for more than 30 years and was incredibly proud to have touched the lives of more than 900 children over the span of his career as coach of the Lebanon Valley Teener League. His dedication to sports and the youth of his community earned him his induction into the Central Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Tony was also an active member and volunteer for the Eastern Boxer Club, where he served as president for 30 years.
In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by two children – Lisa Hopkins and her husband, Brett, Tina Lauver and her husband, James; a sister, Gillian Arnick and her husband, Kenneth; his grandson, Jordan Lauver; and ten nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers – Thomas and Dennis.
Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's name may be made to the American Boxer Club Charitable Foundation, P.O.
