Obituary

Eileen Kay Sherk, 84, of Lebanon, PA passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Lebanon Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was married to the late Ronald Lee Sherk for 51 loving years.

Born in Lebanon, PA on December 30, 1941, Eileen was a daughter of the late Raymond and Virgie (Snyder) Troxel. She worked as a secretary in the art history department at Penn State's main campus and in the office at St. John's United Methodist Church in Ivyland, PA. She later worked as a teacher's aide at Rainbow Academy for Little Scholars and a one-to-one aide at Carousel Farm's Educational Center in Ivyland, PA. Eileen was very devoted to the children there but retired after having grandchildren to spend more time with family. She was a longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Ivyland, PA and was recently accepted as a homebound member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Eileen enjoyed doing crafts, baking, and spending time with her kids and grandkids; reading mysteries and science fiction; researching her family's genealogy; and solving puzzles.

Eileen is survived by a son, Jeffrey Sherk, husband of April Sherk and their sons Daniel and Jonathan of Lebanon, PA; a daughter, Susanne Steen, wife of Justin Steen and their children Lexi, Zachary, and Kylie of Perkasie, PA; a sister, Sandy Prentice, and her husband Joe; a sister-in-law, Millie Hartz; a brother, Sonny Troxel; nieces and nephews, Cherie Prentice-Brown, Bill Prentice, Joel Prentice, Richelle Parks, Christiane Oakley, and Tim Troxel; their families; and many loving cousins and extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Lee Sherk; a brother, Bob Hartz; and a brother- and sister-in-law, Richard and Vi Sherk.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Salem Lutheran Church, 119 N 8th St, Lebanon, PA 17046. Interment will follow at Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Christopher's Children's Hospital c/o Drexel University or Ronald McDonald House. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
