Charles F. Gettle, Jr. passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Cedar Haven Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 17, 1932 to the late Charles F. and Carrie (Lear) Gettle in Lebanon.

After graduating from high school, Charlie served in the United States Navy. On November 27, 1954, he married his beloved wife, Joan Weirich and the devoted union lasted 68 years. Charlie worked for Bethlehem Steel for 46 years and drove school bus for 20 years for Brightbill Transportation. He enjoyed watching horse racing and football and was a proud Cowboys fan. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0158, Myerstown VFW Post 6076, and Mt. Zion Fire Company.

In addition to his beloved wife, Joan, Charlie is survived by his children: Jeffrey A. Gettle (husband of Susan), Robin L. Fisher (wife of Richard), Bonita J. Shuey (wife of Douglas), and Beth Ann Saggers (wife of Nicholas); six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Charlie is preceded in death by one son: Craig C. Gettle, one brother and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 11am at St. Cecilia's Church, 120 E Lehman St, Lebanon, PA 17046 with internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to Mass from 10-11am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the American Heart Association ( heart.org/donate ) Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
