Obituary

Carol Jean "Jeanie" Spesak Dissinger died on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the age of 77.

Jeanie was born in Lebanon, PA on November 28, 1944 to John and Stephanie (Kopecky) Spesak. Graduating from Lebanon Catholic in 1962 and Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1965, she spent her 40-year professional career caring for others. Remembered as a dedicated and knowledgeable nurse, she was Head of Labor and Delivery at Hyman-Caplan Pavilion (formerly Lebanon Valley General Hospital) and a neonatal nurse at the Hershey Medical Center.

Jeanie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, always putting others before herself. She cared deeply for her sons, Rick and Stephen, and was an involved and active grandmother to her grandchildren. Jeanie loved a good time, never passing up the chance to join her sister Deb at the Knights of Columbus for a drink or hit the town with her dear friend Bobby. She spent most of her retired life in Potter County, where she enjoyed time in her cabin cross-stitching, watching the nightly episode of Jeopardy, and never failing to complete The New York Times crossword puzzle. Jeanie will be fondly remembered for her dry wit, her bright smile, and her unbeatable chocolate peanut butter cake recipe.

Jeanie is survived by two children, Rick Dissinger, husband of Kelli, and Stephen Dissinger; four grandchildren, Evan, Emma, Stefan, and Makennah; three sisters, Bonnie Hetrick, Anita "Weezie" Budnyk, wife of Mike, and Deb Rakow, wife of Bob; one brother, predeceased, Jack Spesak, husband of Judy; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friends, Bobby and John.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Fairview Pavilion, 114 N Zinns Mill Rd, Lebanon, PA 17042 from 1pm- 4pm. All are welcome to attend and share stories, have a drink, and remember Jeanie for the good time she was. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with arrangements.
