Carl H. Spitler "Shultz", 90, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family by his side.

Born in Annville, PA on June 20, 1931, Carl was a son of the late W. Earl and Josephine Mary Elizabeth (Neidich) Spitler. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, his period of active duty was from 1952-1954. He was a highly skilled and sought after stone mason. He worked well into his 80's. His career involved general construction, stone masonry, and general masonry, for himself, Pete Smith and Son, and E.E, Murry. Throughout his career, he formed many relationships and left a lasting impact on everyone he worked for or with.

Carl was an avid fisherman and hunter. He traveled the nation and Canada to hunt and fish. He loved gardening, collecting coins, antiques, hosting pig roasts at his cabin and telling his family stories. He had the most contagious laugh and biggest smile. He was a member of the Lebanon Legion, the Lincoln Republican Club, and R Field & Stream.

Carl is survived by three children: Steve Spitler (Angela) of Lebanon, Shari Lewis (Rich) of Hummelstown, and Ashley Campo (Daniel) of New York; siblings, Evelyn King of Palmyra, Elesta Walborn of Fredericksburg, Bonnie Brajkovich of Newport, Joyce Kuhn of Annville, and Marna Forry of Palmyra. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Carl Samuel Spitler "Peepy"; his siblings, Richard Spitler, Gladys Lingle, and Dallas Spitler; and his long time companion, Margie (Hess) Boland.

He will forever be in his loved one hearts and dearly missed very much every day.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, February 1st at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 South 9th Street, Lebanon. Interment with full military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:30-12:30 at the funeral home.
