Obituary

Betty E. Kopecky (Miller), 101 years of life, of Lebanon, died on Wednesday, May 24th at her home.

She was born in Joliett, PA on September 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Curtin and Bertha (Unger) Miller.

She was a 1939 graduate of the former Porter Township High School and a graduate of the Good Samaritan Nursing School in 1942.

Betty was a registered nurse and worked her whole life taking care of patients and family.  She began her career as a nurse at the Good Samaritan then worked at the Sanitorium hospital.  She then pursued her nursing career with several private practice doctors including Dr. Moeschlin, Dr. Achenback, Dr. Lazin and Dr. Yocum.  She finished her career and retired from the Lebanon VA Medical Center but continued to work part-time with Leader Nursing home until the age of 77.

Betty enjoyed her family, traveling, Atlantic City casino trips, time with friends at Tropical Sands Resort in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, her card club, her monthly lunch bunch and VA nurses lunch, the Polka dances, crocheting, reading and baking.  She was a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Church.

She was predeceased by her husband John R. Kopecky, her daughter Seda M. Kleinfelter, her brother Charles V. Miller and her sister Lauretta E. Olinick.

She is survived by her son Paul Grumbein Jr., husband of Carol, of Allentown, daughter Karen Kopecky of West Conshohocken, and son-in-law Jeff Kleinfelter, 5 granddaughters;  Erin O'Donnell, Elizabeth Joyce, Catie Capuzzi, Rachel Amato and Arionna Carmona,  1 grandson;  Matthew Kleinfelter,  5 great-granddaughters;  Brooke O'Donnell, Mia Amato, Hannah Joyce, Sadie Joyce and Zoey Capuzzi and 3 great-grandsons; Jack O'Donnell, Giancarlo and Alessio Amato.  Many nieces and nephews.  She was the last of her and her husband's immediate family to pass.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 1st  at 11:00 am at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 1300 Lehman St., Lebanon.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Visitation hours from 10:00 am -11:00 am at the church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Benedict's Church.  Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
