Agnes Q.
Bering
Jan 27, 1930 — Jan 22, 2025
Agnes Quarry Bering passed away peacefully at Cornwall Manor on Tuesday, January 22, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Joseph Paul Bering, MD.
Born in Lebanon, PA on January 27,1930, Agnes was the daughter of the late Ralph and Anna (Kristovensky) Quarry. She was one of twelve children and was preceded in death by siblings Mary Ann, Christine, Ralph Jr., Cyril, Rita, Lucille, Lawrence, and Patricia. She is survived by Dolores Dishong, Anna Kay Beattie, and John Quarry.
In addition to her husband, Agnes is survived by five children: Joseph Jr., husband of Ann Bowman; Thomas, husband of Jody Miller; Susan, wife of Charles Purdum; Ericka Wagaman; and Elizabeth Ann, wife of Gary Johnson. She had nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Agnes and Joe were high school sweethearts united in marriage on August 18,1951. As Joe pursued his medical degree in Philadelphia, Agnes remained in Lebanon working diligently at Bell Telephone or the family butcher shop while caring for their children.
A loving mother and grandmother, Agnes loved to cook for a crowd, decorate the home, tend her flowers, and support her husband as a business partner in his medical practice. She was an avid reader and prolific writer remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and more. She and Joe traveled frequently overseas to explore history and architecture.
While managing a lively household, she earned a degree in Accounting at Lebanon Valley College and used these skills to manage bookkeeping for Joe's medical practice. She was a member of the Junior Women's League and Lebanon Country Club. She enjoyed tennis and bridge with friends and loved watching Philadelphia sports as well as Penn State football.
Agnes was always charitable to those less fortunate of life's blessings. She would rather give than receive. Her presence among family and friends will be sadly missed, but her spirit lives on.
A viewing is scheduled on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 10am-11am in the vestibule of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Annville, PA.
